In Spain, Police Claim To Have Seized The Largest Amount Of Cannabis Ever

The largest haul of cannabis ever found has been discovered in a series of raids across Spain, police say.

Police seized more than 32 tons of the drug, which has an estimated street value of more than £57 million.

Police in Spain said nine men and 11 women were arrested in busts involving drivers between the ages of 20 and 59.

A “complex business network” was exporting the drugs across Europe, according to the Guardia Civil.

In terms of weight, the seized plants are roughly equivalent to the weight of five adult African elephants.

Despite raids in Toledo, Ciudad Real, Valencia and Asturias last month, details of Operation Gardens were only revealed on Saturday.

In the report, police said the business was run by different “companies” that handled different parts of the process, including buying the seeds, growing the plants, drying them, packaging, and shipping.

The Civil Guard seized the largest cache of packaged marijuana so far, according to a police statement.

According to the report, it was equivalent to 1.1 million plants.
